As I write this, there’s a cold rain falling outside my window. It’s exciting to realize that our summer wedding will be here in just under 5 months – complete with gorgeous weather! If you are interested in dipping your feet in the Atlantic Ocean or laying out on a sandy beach, Wallis Sands State Beach is located 15 minutes south of Portsmouth in Rye, New Hampshire. This beach features a large parking lot, showers, and restrooms. There is an admission fee in the summer.
Looking for a family-friendly sea life museum? Visit the Seacoast Science Center, which boasts educational and fun learning opportunities for kids of all ages. Located on Odiorne Point, where New Hampshire’s first settler landed. The science center has an admission fee.

For those history buffs among us, Strawberry Banke Museum is a living history museum in the heart of Portsmouth where the Puddle Dock neighborhood of yesteryear comes to life. This museum recounts the stories of generations of Americans, many who were immigrants, who were drawn to the area because of the opportunities available to them. The museum charges an admission fee.
